I still kind of can't believe it, but it did. The house we loved was emptied of all our belongings. (except for the kid below, we emptied her a few minutes later.) And we began our journey.

You'd never know a huge red door was there. :)

I sure am glad my best buddy went with me. He makes everything fun. Don't be intimidated by our sweet suburban setup, below. The Griswolds called. They want to hang out with us.

We started off well. Everyone was excited to go.

Had some nice stops along the way.

Beautiful sunsets...(don't those arches look cool? :))

But then we started having a fair amount of this.

So we were glad to get here, and be greeted by the cutest girls around.

:)

Funny story: We got the girls in bed around 9 and continued to unpack the car and get settled. At around 11 Mark was missing something and wondered if it had mistakenly been put in the girls' room. We turned the corner to go sneak in and look and saw the light on in their room. (2 hours after they had been put to bed and not napped for TWO days in the car.) This was what was in their beds. The absence of children.

And this is what we found. Ava was completely dressed and Kaiya had apparently decided to go with a costume change when we found her. Not pictured: the dirty diaper Kaiya had ditched at her own will and the skid marks all over the carpet where she had been sitting to put on her pants. I only took one picture because obviously we were trying to pretend like we were really upset.
Of course in reality I've never been more amused yet in my parenting career. I love that my girls have fun together-and I guess there's just a little learning curve when sharing a room for the first time. A wonderful memory of our first night in a new place. :)

Great post. I love your family. That was a great house. And we are so glad we got to visit you there. I may never have seen Michigan. :) Love y'all, and can't wait to visit Orlando.
i hope florida treats you well! it would be hurt to replace the view at your house in MI!
Kaiya is going to LOVE that story someday. And by love I mean hate. Ah, skidmarks. :) Glad you're able to find some funny among the sadness.
I love that story and how fun that K and A can share a room for awhile. I know MI misses you terribly. Love you!
I love Ava's face in the last one. And Mark's (trying to look serious). And dear Kaiya. So cute. Love the story. And the adventure of it all.
Very funny story...what a great memory. :) Glad you documented your journey to Florida. Hope you all are settling in well and enjoying warmer weather. :)
HAHAHA oh my gosh thats awesome!! my mom said one time after HOURS of being in bed,,I came in the living room and said "can you help me get this dolls dress on?" i totally forgot what time of the day it was and that i was being disobedient! haha... so fun that they love to play
oh the red door... I love Reese just looking around like "what happened?" I share her sentiment. Seems like it happened so quick. Favorite picture has to be how Mark has his fist on his hip when he walks in on the girls wardrobe change. OH how I wish I could've been there. Please record some late night conversations between Ava and Kaiya. I can only imagine their discussions. Love and miss you all.
the red door was one of the best room accessories i have ever seen and i miss it! love your pictures...keep them coming. i need to see your faces as much as possible. A and K are two peas in a pod- HILARIOUS- hugs!!
