Does anyone remember how they used to do that after shows? (Quality shows like Home Improvement, and things of the like.) Sometimes I feel like my life is just a big long series of out takes. Things that were supposed to go one way, but ended up going wrong/different/not how they were planned.
I'm so thankful for digital photography...but tonight I was looking through pictures and the ones I put on the blog are so very few of the ones I take. I thought-wouldn't it be funny to just do a post of pictures I would never usually post? The out takes?
I do love my kids-but in the name of truth-there are certainly more bad days, frustrations and unplanned endings than usually shows up on the blog. I'm all for being transparent-I want my girls to know that you can put baby powder in your hair, a decent outfit, and makeup at stoplights and make people think you have it together when in fact, you most certainly do not. And that even if your house is a disaster and your hair is dirty-loving Jesus is all that matters! :) That's our life right now.

This picture gives me a knot in my stomach. This was Ava's gymnastics program....except she's standing there while all the other kids do it. I was so sad for her this night-she was just not able to get herself out there on that mat! It's interesting how God teaches you through your children...but I'm certainly having to accept that Ava is not into social situations. At first I was just so frustrated-Mark and I certainly don't mind being around people..where did she come from?! But I'm learning to love her just how she is-and know that in big groups, or new groups, she is going to hang back. (and probably grunt and talk in a baby voice :) why is baby talk so cute when it's a new talker, and so vile when it's a kid who KNOWS how to talk?!?!)

More happy pictures soon. :)

what a cute post, and soo true. who knew kids weren't robots and no matter what kind of planner you are, they love to throw the occasional wrench in it!! (aka dirty diaper, tantrum, or a colored marker to their body)... baby powder in the hair - a trick all girls should know!
I love you and this post made me smile (and the last picture made me laugh out loud!). You are a great mom...you love your babies and Jesus and that's all that matters...you're right! Hugs!
Hmmm, you still look pretty in the last picture....
But anyway, you are right, all the matters is pointing our little ones to Christ. Something that can get lost in the day to day details.
Yes, the outtakes are what make us what we are, aren't they? God has a funny little way of teaching us lessons sometimes, doesn't he? You're an awesome mom, Heidi. Keep it up. Your girls are beautiful.
These pictures make me laugh! What a great post! We should all occasionally post out takes. I think it would be very entertaining. I have LOTS of pictures like these. :)
hey lady - every out take is important - almost more so than the moments that are "perfect." Not to say that they aren't more frustrating ;)
You forgot to mention that donuts are also important... very important. And Diet Coke. And creamy jalepeno sauce. And queso dip. You were probably right to just go with Jesus...
love it...have to say that the last picture is HILARIOUS! Real or pretend...who knows? There are lots of babies around these days :) Your kids are cute even during meltdowns! And for the record there were like 500 people at gymnastics performance...i think i might have run away too.
one of my favorite posts...ever.
Love this. My life is one big outtake, I think. (And I'm pretty sure it's one of those can be one or two word situations. Talk about an untimely response.)
What a great idea, Heidi! Outtakes are the stuff of life, no? And I love the transparency you share. Your girls are BLESSED to have you as a mama!
Love the out takes! I wish there was dialogue of Ava and Kaiya. You're a great mom honey. You'd never know that you put your eyeshadow on a red lights - its just so well blended :)
