I have always been a brave traveler. In third grade I flew to my sister's house in Boston with a friend, the summer after fifth grade, I flew to SWITZERLAND BY MYSELF. (As a parent, I cannot believe my parents let me do this.) I drove 7 hours back and forth to camp by myself in high school multiple times. Stuff just doesn't really intimidate me.
All those, however, pale in comparison to what I'm about to tell you. I flew, alone, with my 1, 2, and 3 year old to Michigan. With a layover. By myself.

We started off great. With some horrific in between. But we made it.

May God richly bless Mr. Dry Erase Marker.

We had to switch terminals which involved about 923 moving sidewalks, several escalators, and the land of swirly twirly gumdrops. Or something.

But it was all worth it to get to the land that we love with the Aunt that we love. (who i didn't take enough pictures of!)

Our first 24 hours had to include getting our hair did. We love you Michelle!

Kaiya's first haircut! We just evened out the mullet. A big thanks to Laurie for the chocolate chip cookies that helped sustain us through this landmark event.

And a little bit after the event, too.

Then we got to see our sweet family. We love us some DeKorne's.

They had a little celebration for Reese, complete with the Michigan classic-Bill Knapp's cake. (and the slightly creepy clown heads.) I love Reese's little look of excitement in this pic!

Precious Grandma Betsy.

Grandma and my girl. She is getting to be such a big girl. It makes my heart hurt.

They LOVED the snow! The melty, hard, crusty, snow. We missed it!

that is the definition of brave! such cute pictures. Reese is a lucky girl she can be associated with that wonderful candy her whole life ;)
You are one brave woman!!!!! AWESOME!!!!
Hats off to you...seriously! I can hardly manage a 2 hour road trip.
Love all these pics. Ava looks so much like Mark AGAIN in the pic with grandma! Its the smile I think! :)
oh, and the Reese Candies on the cake...genius! It should be an annual tradition :)
Impressive on 3 accounts:
1. That you did it by yourself, amazing.
2. That there is still snow in Michigan
3. That you missed it:)
Beautiful girls by the way! I love Kaiya's hair!
Awesome. CanNOT believe you went to Switzerland by yourself. I never knew that. Crazy! That's Thomas in only a year and a half. The kid can barely get to Nick's house 1/4 mile away. haha. Kaiya's hair=cute. Reese with reese cake=awesome. Ave and Grandma Betsy=adorable.
I laughed out loud at the "swirly twirly gumdrops." You are the most brave person I know. So very glad that you came to visit. And all of your hair looks amazing. love you.
Ava looks so grown up...when did that happen? So glad you got to spend time in MI with people you love! You give me hope that maybe next Christmas I might be able to get home to MO with my three kids alone....maybe?! :) Love you!
you are super brave in all you do, and super cute. That's what makes you so great.
you were so courageous! oh what we do to not let kids hold us back.
and since we are the youngest of 4 children we definitely got to do a lot more then other kids! my parents had no problem shipping me off on a plane for camp or to see my siblings. i loved it and it taught me a lot of independence.
You are crazy. I would never ever ever in a million years ever attempt that. I was scared to travel with one. And a husband. :) Its a good thing I have you to remind me not to be such a wuss. Love you, glad you got to see your lovlies in GR. Cute hair!
Wow, you are a brave woman! I am so impressed. I'm so glad that you were able to spend some time with family and friends!
I was happy to share cookies with such enthsiastic (read this as messy) cookie lovers. Kaiya was hilarious! I think she had the third cookie shoved in her mouth before you could say no more. Lovely to see you & your gorgeous new blonde highlights. And I echo everyone's comments of your proven bravery and possible craziness.

i laughed. seriously, are those clown heads STILL around? they were there when i was a kid??? glad you got some time in michigan - you are a brave woman!!! love you :-)
