Make new friends but ship in the old.

For the last bunch of years I've pretty much always been missing this girl. Katie and I go way back and share stories about a whole bunch of 2nd graders that nobody would ever understand. I hadn't seen her since these trips-much, much too long ago.

As a Christmas present to both of us, Katie's husband bought her a ticket to come visit us in our lonely new state. Having her here was the perfect medicine. My kids fell in love and I hope she enjoyed the sunshine state even though there was no sunshine and we barely got off the couch.

My girls will find a sucker for reading in any crowd.

Some of my children are more cooperative for the camera than others. Just sayin.
Book #456,334,351 that they made her read.
She came for Superbowl weekend, and so obviously we threw a HUGE party. Huge.
The ONE picture we got together. At the height of our glamour. (While I know I look like I was having an 80's flashback, I assure you no leg warmers or Units were hurt in the making of this photo.)
Katie and the Ham.
Reference aforementioned commentary on uncooperative kid.
And this is where this feel good post comes to an end. Because all this time I've been pretending like she came to see our family. And that's just a lie. We were an added bonus.

Mr. Radin (below, center), was the real reason for the visit. And if you haven't heard of him, just take a gander and I think you'll see why. His voice is dreamy and though Katie is pregnant with her 5th child from another man, I'm pretty sure Joshua's got her heart.
Thanks for the visit, old friend! We love you!

Your girls are so cute. So are you and Katie. But, oh my goodness. Joshua Radin. I wish I could have been there. It's a life-long goal of mine to meet Katie at a Joshua Radin concert. So glad you got to go together. Love you!

Dave, Ninny and Isla

Glad the girls had an alternate reader in town to give you a little break. They make everyone feel so special. I love the Superbowl Party picture. Ava's sunglasses seem totally appropriate indoors. Kaiya's hair is awesome and that dress Reese is wearing better be on the "loan to Nin if she has a girl" list. Glad you had a fun time with your sweet friend and new crush. I need to listen to him!

Katie

I love it! I look like a total slob in every picture. I sure loved your couch. :)

And puh-lease. I would have come even if Joshua wasn't there. That was just an added bonus. Love you, and miss you already.

This makes me miss all my oldies I would like to ship in.
The only thing more humorous than Kaiya's pics, would be a pic of her & Mattie together. I don't think even photoshop could save that one. :) Glad I'm not the only one with an uncooperative kiddo.

glad you had fun with your friend! good for the soul.

enjoyed your post - BUT what i really enjoyed....i decided to click on "this girl" and linked over to see if this was your friend that i met once (eons ago - in Goose's Acre, i think? ). i think she had maybe 3 kids at the time (one was tiny)? oh my Lord, i started reading her blog and the 1st entry had me rolling! i realized it was definitely her - because i recognized her husband and i remembered her little boy's name was thomas. hilarious! honest to God, i think she could charge people to read her blog on a daily basis - just for a dose of much-needed laughter! sounds like you guys had a great time - and, i have to admit, i am looking forward to checking out those compression socks with the maternity bathing suit...and i don't even know her!! lol :)

The Moser Fam...

So glad you two had a good time sitting on the couch! :) I fear that I may be stoned for saying this, but I have yet to listen to a Joshua Radin song...hmmm, maybe I should give him a whirl. He is kind of cute. Also, I love the picture of you and Katie (and the cropping). :) :)

Hehehe! I have been waiting for this post! I'm so glad my sister has such a great friend in you! That's so special! And I'm SOOOO glad y'all got to go see Joshua Radin! He is VERY dreamy, indeed! I sometimes pretend that MY Joshua sounds like that when he sings....however....he, in fact....does not!

So glad you got some good girl time in with a dear friend! Looks like your girls were really smitten with Katie.
