Always something at my house...

Yes, this is the same Heidi who has flooded two houses over the course of a year and a half.

Thankfully I can see my house from the windows at my sister's. Because then I could say this:
"There are firetrucks on my street."
"There are firetrucks at my HOUSE!"
"Are they going to my house?"
"Take Kaiya!"

Yes, I guess a burner was BARELY left on. I left a couple things on the burner. A fire ensued. So thankful our alarm system called the fire dept. since obviously, I don't answer calls on my cell phone from 800 numbers.

Four firetrucks, lots of smoke, and a ruined counter later...

My old teaching notebook that now houses recipes. Goodbye recipes. And the notes from the parent/teacher conference with Mrs. Smith.
The two beautiful girls that were absolutely safe during all of it. After our last trauma involving a child's life, this seems like no big deal! The fireman said that 5 or 10 more minutes and we would have lost our kitchen. Thank you God for protecting our house!

AND, thank you to Uncle Dave and Aunt Barb-who sped like lightning to get here after the alarm company called them. And helped me clean up. And brought me pizza last Sunday. They are the best pseudo parents ever!

This little human we've made...

Found dad's hair gunk which he then took to the next level.
Still taking good care of those babies. And the pink purse.
Chatting with Grandma.
And eating some dirt.

on the road again...

got to go celebrate Baby Breyer this weekend! yay! my friend abby is having her first baby in may. we can't wait to welcome him to our family.

just something about hanging out with friends who will drive 10 miles out of the way to go to dairy queen and agree that it's a good decision to drive thru dunkin donuts on your way home from going out to breakfast.

obviously i was much more wowed than abby by the shamwow. i must be a better cleaner. (this is a joke)

Lost in Translation

Mark enjoys Special K for breakfast. This morning I noticed that he was almost out, so I simply asked if he wanted more Special K.

Which led to this: 30 minutes of crying because Ava thought I said "special CAKE" and was devastated and furious with me that I would not share said cake with her. I'm not kidding. She was heartbroken. How do you explain to a 1 year old that you were talking about cereal called Special K and that you are not depriving her of any fabulous confections?!
This week we took a roadtrip to see one of my best friends from college and her two sweet kiddos. Ava learned what a truck was (like that puzzled look?!) and Kaiya learned not to eat other babies. It was so special to see sweet new Natalie..of course all babies are precious and wonderful, but we prayed and fasted and begged God for this one-so it was so fun to be able to hold her!

Some things we learned this weekend from uber smart Ben:
"If you want your pee to go away, you just flush it."
"Ava, if you don't want to take a nap just get a gun and shoot your mommy."

I would say both Ava and I left with a little more wisdom.

I guess the wisdom we still need to glean is how to take a group picture with 4 children. Maybe we shouldn't have waited til bedtime??!

Happy Losing an Hour of Sleep Weekend!

Actually I don't really mind it with kids. In the fall we don't get to gain an hour and in the spring we don't really lose an hour. I just sleep when they do. So-I just pretended Ava really slept til 8:45 this morning!

Haven't seen Dad much lately so it was nice to have him home for the weekend. I saved the bath task for Mark because it tends to make me more wet than I really enjoy. :)

She cracks me up with this white hat. Nice outfit, huh?
Just getting caught up on a little work.

Whew.

I am happy to have Ava and Kaiya in our family, but sometimes I could do without all their teeth.

Thanks to Kaiya's two bottom teeth, and Ava's 18th tooth, (right under her fingers)...we have had better days around our house. I did comfort them as soon as I got a picture of them crying :)!

The Weekend and Carlotta Ramona

Mark was gone every day of last week so the girls were happy to have him home to cuddle with. :) (me too!) (Greg too!)
These two pictures pretty much sum up our weekend. Wii and food.
(Except the part where we moved the girls downstairs and repainted the old room with the help of Friend of the Year)
Pretty Christina and Baby Borowicz.
Ava can't get enough of Dave. And he is useful-spent this weekend teaching her the difference between an iPhone and a Blackberry!
Ok, so-my first Cabbage Patch kids was Carlotta Ramona. Is there a worse name? I don't think so. But I loved her dearly. I never even played with Barbies because I always wanted to be a Mom. It seems my precious daughter is taking after me. She went and got her hat, her pink purse, and attempted to get 2-3 babies in her hands. She literally spent 20 minutes dropping either a baby, or the purse, and would start the whole process over. When they would get dropped, she would say "it's ok baby. i love you." and pat them. Incredibly cute. At least to her Mom...
