Lost in Translation

Mark enjoys Special K for breakfast. This morning I noticed that he was almost out, so I simply asked if he wanted more Special K.

Which led to this: 30 minutes of crying because Ava thought I said "special CAKE" and was devastated and furious with me that I would not share said cake with her. I'm not kidding. She was heartbroken. How do you explain to a 1 year old that you were talking about cereal called Special K and that you are not depriving her of any fabulous confections?!
This week we took a roadtrip to see one of my best friends from college and her two sweet kiddos. Ava learned what a truck was (like that puzzled look?!) and Kaiya learned not to eat other babies. It was so special to see sweet new Natalie..of course all babies are precious and wonderful, but we prayed and fasted and begged God for this one-so it was so fun to be able to hold her!

Some things we learned this weekend from uber smart Ben:
"If you want your pee to go away, you just flush it."
"Ava, if you don't want to take a nap just get a gun and shoot your mommy."

I would say both Ava and I left with a little more wisdom.

I guess the wisdom we still need to glean is how to take a group picture with 4 children. Maybe we shouldn't have waited til bedtime??!

Hey friend! I found your blog through a long line of people. I love that story about special K. I can understand being upset about missing out on cake. Your girls are amazingly cute!

I'm a friend of Erin Essenburg's and my twin girls love looking at pictures of your girls - thought you might want to know that they're convinced Ava was crying because she wanted to be naked. They've told me about that a lot. :)

I'm like a parrot of the other posts, but the "Special K" story is way too cute!!

Abby

I would like some special cake.

SPECIAL CAKE, PLEASE!

Abby

Also, we may need to have a chat with Ali regarding her child teaching your child to shoot you when she doesn't want to take a nap. Those Mosers think violence solves everything...
